KONGSBERG has completed the worlds longest multi-sensor AUV pipeline survey using one of its cutting-edge HUGIN 1000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV). The latest addition to Kongsberg Maritime’s HUGIN family builds on the capabilities of the advanced HUGIN architecture, adding innovative autonomy to deliver the most advanced low-drag autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The HUGIN range of autonomous underwater vehicles is characterised by great manoeuvrability and high accuracy of stabilisation. Kongsberg Maritime used Oceanology International 2022 in London as the occasion to launch the HUGIN Edge AUV. We see that customers put AUVs into operation in many applications, and we believe that Autonomous Underwater Vehicles will be used in even more applications in the future," says SVP Stene Førsund, Kongsberg Maritime. When the launch boat is alongside, the ship’s davit is then used in conjunction with a fitted Henriksen Dual Point Lifting Hook so that it can be hoisted back onto the ship along with its launch and recovery system and the AUV."These latest contracts are a true acknowledgement of a team effort over many years, and it shows that Kongsberg Maritime offers the right technology and solutions for the growing AUV market. The Stinger is then raised bringing the AUV onboard where it is kept fast and transported to the mothership by the USV. The winch is used to pull the AUV out of the water and up onto the Stinger bed. The USV/boat is maneuvered so that the nose of the AUV moves onto the Stinger bed where the hook on its nose automatically captures a self-tensioned winch line. The deployment boat will capture the AUV with its Stinger extended into the water. At Kongsberg, we believe in tackling challenging problems and delivering extreme performance for. a recent uptick in orders, Kongsberg Maritimes Sensor and Robotics division has announced that it has secured over NOK 450M in contracts for HUGIN.

Working as a Field Service Engineer you will do field service and technical assistance of AUV, Hugin systems globally. The operator releases the AUV using a radio link to the AUV which then releases the hook and thus the retaining line. The Stinger is then tilted to position its end just under water. During the launch operation the Stinger is extended over the stern of the boat with the AUV safely put on the Stinger. A key feature of the system is its use of a radio or AUV controlled hook fitted into the nose of the AUV.
